"Buckyball" is the nick name for Buckministerfullerene an allotrope of carbon which was recently discovered. It is presumed to have a structure shown above and each carbon is supposed to be sp2 hybridized. This probably could explain most of its structural properties. This allotrope of carbon has great potential in a variety of fields including medicine (effective drug delivery).

Bucky ball is a C-60 molecule
